Baptism Bears

This is an updated version of my baptism bears illustration from a few years ago. It's a great little handout to help kids remember the baptism found in Mosiah chapter 18. I've even heard of people attaching it to a little bag of cinnamon bears or gummi bears to be given to guests as favors. It's also been used by a lot of primaries. I am a mother. And like most mothers, I am trying to teach my children how to work and how to take care of themselves. (which is also a polite way of saying that I'm tired of cleaning up after them!) So, I've made these cards to go with a job board I plan to order off of etsy. If you see any jobs I have missed, let me know. I'll be happy to draw up a little something for you.

I did this illustration to go along with my visiting teaching message for the month of March 2010. I just type up the thought I want to go with it in a cute font and attach it to the bottom. However, now that I've got a new baby, and less time to do them, I'm raising my prices a little bit. The base fee will be $25 plus $5 for each figure in the illustration.

Hello everyone! I have been having such a fun time illustrating these family portraits, and I've been pleasantly surprised by the response! We have just set a date with our doctor to schedule the c-section for the newest member of our family. I have just enough time to finish the projects on my drawing table right now. If you have sent me photos to work from for your illustration, you are on the drawing table and can expect your illustration soon. If you have not sent me pictures to work from,

However, after a few weeks of maternity leave, I'll be happy to start taking orders again. Just to let you know, I do not consider an order to be 'official' until I receive your pictures to work from. At that point, I aim to get your illustration done in a week, but guarantee it to be finished within two weeks. I will put your illustration on a photo greeting card and give you a cd that can be taken to Sam's club, Costco, or anywhere else to be printed out for your family Christmas Cards.

Blog Banner $10

How it works:

I will need photos of the people you want in your portrait. (Snapshots are great - anything that shows me what you look like and what color of eyes you've got.) You can tell me what kind of background you want, what clothing you want, any props/objects you'd like etc. From there, I'll go to work on your drawing. I will aim for a one week turn around, but will guarantee a two week turn around from the time I receive your photos. All your photos will be returned to you with your finished product.

I'm sure there are details I haven't even thought of. So, If you have any questions, feel free to comment here or send me an e-mail.

This is the Parrish family. They are our neighbors. I had the opportunity to illustrate their family portrait as part of a charity auction a few weeks ago. It was a fun project and I loved being able to do it for such a neat family. I don't usually do 'portraits' of real people because I'm always worried that my characters won't look like the actual person. However, since I've done this project I've been told that more people are interested in having their families illustrated - even if they don't look exactly right. Since I love to do it, I thought I might as well give it a try! These graphics are all part of the package I put together for the Parrishes. It included the original 8x10 illustration, a scanned digital version of the portrait (they can print it and use it how they like), a digital christmas card (they can print it out at Sam's, Costco, or where ever) and a blog banner.

These paper dolls were cut out, laminated, and used in an object lesson by wiping chocolate pudding on them to show our 'spirits' getting dirty with bad choices. Then wet wipes labeled as "baptism" and "sacrament" were used to clean the 'spirits' off again, making them as pure as they were when they came to earth. Because of course, Heavenly Father's house is clean and pure, and just like Mom who makes you wipe your feet and take off your muddy shoes before coming in, we must be clean if we want to live with Heavenly Father again.....
